02 March 2013
We still have a few rooms and cabins open for the weekend of March 22nd, if anyone is interested in joining us for Amish Weekend! Long-time friend of Murphin, Dr. Joe Donnermeyer, will be here to discuss Amish life, culture and tradition. Dr. Donnermeyer is a professor of Rural Sociology at Ohio State, and has spent many an early-spring here taking interested guests around to experience our flourishing Amish community firsthand. In case you missed it, here are some pictures from the outting in 2011.
But a warning for the Extreme Amish Aficionado - there is a real lack of Amish Mafia, Amish Murders, and Amish-Gone-Wild here in Adams County, so don't get your hopes up too high. (Are we the only ones who find all those television shows a little surreal?)
You can however expect to be treated to an Amish Scavenger Hunt, a Lunch-and-Lecture, and a behind-the-scenes look at Keim's Market. Be sure to pick up some of their Cashew Brittle! It's our favorite!
