Amish Weekend 2011

Murphin's annual Amish Weekend was a great success! Inquisitive guests were treated to tours of local Amish farms, historic schoolhouses and our friend Roman's impressive bird emporium. Even the chilly, February rain couldn't dampen spirits as Sherry led the group around Adams County, then back to the inn for warm mugs of our famous coffee and homemade snacks.

Saturday night's Amish dinner was especially delicious - fried chicken with homestyle gravy, bread dressing, stewed tomatoes and yummy puddings and cakes all prepared by our friends the Masts and served family style on the Lincoln Porch. Great food and lively conversation among Murphin staff, friends, neighbors and our great guests - we live for this stuff!

Special thanks to our Amish neighbors for opening their homes and lives to us, especially to the Mast ladies who took over the Murphin kitchen on Saturday and were kind enough to leave a few leftovers!

Sad you missed it? Then come visit us for the 8th Annual Amish Bird Symposium on Saturday March 5th, 2011! The weekend is filled with great events, including a guided hike through our beautiful and bird filled trails on Sunday morning. Call or check our website for availability, or visit the Adams County Travel & Visitors Bureau for more information.
