Farm to Field - October

Our last Farm to Field Dinner was this past Saturday and the consensus was this this was the best food to date! Slow and low pot roast with shitakes and fresh herbs, chicken confit wrapped in homemade cannelloni, sweet and sour cabbage, buttercup squash strudel - this menu was a serious introduction to our favorite Fall foods!

If you haven't been able to join us for our special dinners this summer, don't worry - we have lots of interesting ideas for the coming months, including some great wine dinners! Stay posted and as always, feel free to give us a call before your next stay to hear about some of our events!

Farm to Field - September

Our third farm to table dinner was this past Saturday, we saw summer away with some great company and local goodies. From bleu beet tarts and fried okra with jalepeno aioli, to handmade and stuffed tomato basil chicken sausage and slow-roasted pork, with cilantro, cucumber and zuccini - we used the best that our local farms and gardens had to offer. Even our staff members are starting to show up on Farm to Table weekends with grocery bags full of the best their own garden has to offer! There's only one more Farm to Table Dinner left this year, and we'll be pulling out all the stops in October! Oh, and the scenery shouldn't be too bad either!

"Now We're Family"

What a spread for our second Farm to Field Dinner, celebrating all the bounty that late summer has to offer! And this is how we intended to dine until about 10 minutes before the first course, when this happened:

Luckily, we had forty friendly sets of hands to help move every fork, spoon and salt shaker inside, with one guests remarking, "Well, now we're like family." Which is exactly what we aim for during our events, and every night of the week. Our guests are unlike any others, and while dinner like these keep all our hands on deck for several weeks prior, they remind us why we do this everyday. There are few substitues for inspired food done right, lively conversation and good friends.

Still missing out? There are still spots left for the September and October's Farm to Field Dinner - call or e-mail us to reserve your space!

Farm to Field - July

Our First-of-Four Farm to Field Dinner was a huge success. Our guests loved all that Ohio summer had to offer, but especially magical were the conversations shared over the communal table. Our friends who come to the Ridge again and again got to mingle with newcomers and everyone got to share a table with our Amish neighbors who were kind enough to open up their farms and gardens to us. A great time had by all!

The next Farm to Field Dinner is August 13th - call ahead to reserve your place at the table!

From Farm to Field at Murphin Ridge Inn

Our first ever Farm to Field Dinner is this Saturday, and Chef Brad has been all over southern Ohio taking inventory of local meats and produce. Between our garden, our neighbors' gardens and nearby friendly farms, he's got an almost official menu to share. "Almost" because like any local field dinner event (they're quite the rage these days!), anything can change at a moments notice. But if you're anything like us, just the though of Brad's delicious ideas gets our appetite going!

Farm to Field Dinner - July 2011

Basil Granita and Tomato Water
Watermelon Gazpacho, Local Jowl Bacon
Panzanella Salad of Tomatoes, Amish Bread, Garden Herbs, Balsamic and Olive Oil
Cumin Roasted Green Beans
Stone-Fruit Salad of Peaches, Bibb Lettuce and Ohio White Cheddar
Classic Roast Chicken with Roasted Potatoes and Pan Sauce
Beer Braised Rabbit with Fresh Greens, Fennel, Onion and Grilled Shadeau Bread
Fresh Fettuccine, Zucchini, Greens, Local Cow's Milk Ricotta
Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream with Chocolate Stout Cake

Keep in mind that this an evolving menu - there are still a few ingredients that we're trying to track down before adding them to the menu. We want to feature all that the area has to offer this time of year, but also want to make sure that we're getting the best of the best!

All you have to do is show up, preferably hungry!
